Fight One: Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonnar
April, 9th2005 The fight goes three rounds and not a single person was sitting when the bell sounded. Nobody knew when the fight was over who actually won the fight. The judges announced their decision Forrest Griffin would come out ahead with a unanimous decision. The UFC awarded both men contracts because of such an amazing performance. This fight was truly a legendary Performance.
Fight 2: Chuck Liddell vs Randy Couture
Again a three rounder. Chuck and Randy were a little hesitant to get the fight going, but after a few soft jabs Randy grabbed Liddell and slammed him to the ground. That was the first time Liddell had been man handled like that. It looked like that move got inside Liddell’s head. The second round again Randy took over. With just a minute left in the second round Randy scored another take down. Clinching the second round in the judges minds. The third round Liddell was not happy after Randy dominating the first two rounds. Randy again got another take down after a little leather exchange. Liddell could do nothing as Randy pounded him, ultimately successfully winning championships in two different weight classes. Yet another legendary fight.
Fight 3: Matt Hughes vs Frank Trigg II
After Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell everybody was talking about a rematch. What people didn’t expect to see was the most intense fight between Matt Huges and Frank Trigg. They were in the ring before with Huges getting the better of Trigg in the first round. In this fight the first round Trigg wasted no time in hitting Huges with blows to the head and body dropping Huges to the ground. Trigg took advantage of the mount position throwing blow after blow frustrating huges making him turn over to his stomach at witch point Trigg went for a rear naked choke. Huges then pulled out rolling into the fence. Hugesshowed great strength when slamming Triggonthe ground then moved into the mount position pounding him with vicious blows. A Hughes rear naked choke would finish the fight just as he did in the previous encounter. This fight had crazy excitement every second.
Fight 4: Tim Sylvia vs Randy Couture
The first round was a stalemate neither were able to make progress but Randy had clearly sent a message by winning the round. The second a little of the same as the first. Towards the end of the round Randy executed a single leg take down giving him advantage for the rest of the second round. The third and fourth rounds were the most frustrating for Sylvia as Randy showed why he is one of the greatest in mixed martial arts. The fifth round Sylvia would need a knock out or submission to finish the fight. Randy would not let that happen. At the end of the round Sylvia appeared to be helpless as the clock ticked down it was clear who the best heavyweight in the UFC. Randy would be recognized as the greatest UFC champion in its history.
Fight 5: Matt Hughes vs Bj Penn
This fight both men were very hungry for their next win. After Bj Penn stepped up to Matt challenging him for his belt Huges didn’t take that too well. Bjwould put him in check as he put him in submission four minutes into the first round. This fight would be the career fight for Matt. When the fight starts they both were very aggressive but hesitant. Unannounced to the audience Bj injured his ribs in the second round. An intense round for the audience, all were on their feet. The third round was when Matt put on his best skills and locked Bj in a half crucifix. Big Jon stopped the fight and declared Matt Huges the winner. Then becoming a legend as a UFC hall of famer.
